TylerNichols
Long jumper and high jumper. Two-time NCAA All-American and Sun Belt Conference record holder, now a senior in Austin.

Built in Clinton. Proven in Hattiesburg. Headed to Austin.
Tyler Nichols grew up in Clinton, Mississippi, and went to Clinton High School. At Southern Miss he started as a high jumper who could also long jump. By his junior season he was one of the best long jumpers in the country.
In 2026 he led the NCAA list in April and won both the long jump and high jump at the Sun Belt Championships. His 8.19m long jump there set both the Sun Belt Conference record and the Southern Miss school record. He made the NCAA final indoors and outdoors and earned Second-Team All-American honors both times. For 2026–27 he is a senior jumper for the Texas Longhorns, majoring in Physical Culture & Sports, and he spent 2026 as a project manager intern at Feniex Industries in Austin.

Beyond the runway
Physical Culture & Sports student at Texas, project management intern, and a jumper who prepares for two events at one championship.
- Supported cross-functional projects at an American manufacturer of emergency-vehicle lighting, sirens and controllers, working with engineering, production and sales.
- Kept project schedules and status trackers current, following up on open items so deadlines and owners stayed visible.
- Turned project and operations steps into clear, step-by-step process documentation.
- Used AI tools, including Claude, to organize notes, draft updates and speed up routine documentation.
"Tyler won two different jumps at one championship, which takes more planning than people see. He brought that organized, competitive edge to Feniex. He hates finishing second, in anything, and that is the standard I want on my team."

"Second best, first loser, that's what I like to say. I don't like being second."
He said that before the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Championships, right after finishing second at the NCAA East First Rounds.
